So any of the developers interested in sharing their sales numbers??? I'll edit them into the list above.

I asked a few folk on twitter and BigDaddio gave me his... If you know any of these folk ping them and see if we can get a rough idea here. Purely voluntary of course - I jut like to see some good new in here rather than the forum whiners and the badly written 'news' articles.

I will add that We had over 200K downloads. Most of those sales were at the original 200pt (or was it 240?) level. An interesting thing is how many people dropped me an email or a message telling me they liked it. If you look on YouTube you can find some fun vids of kids playing with DrumKit and at least one cranky dude who really REALLY hates it. Its been fun.

Aquarium HD has had 23,954 purchases. That was from 172,319 trials (13.9% conversion rate)

Please don't take this to mean that apps are an easy way to make money. We put an immense amount of time and polish into Aquarium HD (more so than a lot of games get), and that has been reflected in sales. :)

    Oooh that's so cool! :)

Neat that we have the sales for the #1 seller. Should be no excuses for not getting the rest of them. :)

Thanks Tim... updated in top post.

You certainly have a wonderful niche market that none of us would have guessed... is it a RC aircraft crowd or do you think you are picking up general flight sim types?

There is the r/c hobby crowd, and the flight sim crowd, but most of the downloads seem to be from gamers that think r/c airplanes might be interesting, but have never really tried them, until now.

It helps that the most popular r/c flight simulator for the PC costs $99 for the basic version and $199 for the regular version!

I appreciate those in this list sharing their numbers.  It's incredibly reassuring to know that it can be done.  James really knocked it out of the park with Zombies, wow!

What I find most interesting about this list is that some games were only out for the last month or so of 09, such as The Impossible Game. I guess this means that more and more people are checking out XBLIG! :)

Re: Top 20 Indie Games of 2009

Wow... some really, really high numbers for the top games.

And quite a drop off from that... Nasty had 92 sales in December (averages out to 1104 sales per year at that rate) and hovered around the 100-150 top selling range during that time. Which means that 550 (about 700 games minus 150 games ahead of Nasty) or so games likely have less than 1,104 sales per year. I wish there were some way to drive traffic to these games, but my personal efforts so far haven't gone all that well.

In case anyone cares (which they don't), my 2009 sales for Nasty (released 8/24) were:
    201 Sales (110 at 400 points, 91 at 80 points)
    6299 Trials
    3.2% conversion rate

the current 'top selling' != 'top selling of 2009' so you can't be sure you are at 35 on that list since they only published the top 20... but I'm happy to add other people..

Post your 2009 sales, download and current star rating and I'll keep the thread updated.

ZMan and/or AzBat, why don't you include the star rating for each game in the list? I flipped to the game page of a few of them and interestingly, some had relatively low ratings.

If Zman doesn't care to, I wouldn't have a problem with it. He's already take charge of it already. ;)

And also I'm adding to the bottom of the list for non top 20 games... so lets get those 2009 totals...

Ok ZMan... that list looks so cool we decided to release our info: myFisthank:
    22 359 sales, 137 506 downloads, 16.26%, $ 56 548.50
    $ 41.12 per 100 trial downloads.

I wouldn't assume that. The 100-150 top selling range gathered from where? Most of the lists are per country so could well not reflect your assumption

Re: Top 20 Indie Games of 2009

This is going to send me back into rehab, but here goes:

    IncaBlocks 2009
    1652 trials
    84 purchases
    5.08% conv.
    2.5 rating
    75 votes

We are only 4 places behind I MAED however
    (assuming you sort alphabetically)

    Gerbil Physics                           9009/2401=26.65%     4*   /  416

I'm assuming the star rating is for the US, as the game doesnt seeem to be as well regarded outside the US and UK, perhaps a language issue.

Thanks Michael (and Dylan) - there's always going to be folk folk at the top and bottom of the list. Since we don't have access to global sales numbers, or even rollups/averags of those sales numbers its always good to see the numbers from both ends.

Good luck with your next game.

My second game Enemy at the Gate, which frankly sucked as a game. Anyway I attribute the sales to the artwork, ; )

    Trials: 10850
    Sales: 785
    Ratio: 7.24
    Rating 2.25/332

I promise my next game will be more fun! ; )
