    Google Sketchup Warehouse has a whole lot of free 3d models for the taking.  The only problem is that they are in the .skp format (which XNA can't read, as far as I know there is no skp importer).  However, if you download the trial version of Sketchup Pro, it lets you export to fbx.  I have used the warehouse and the exporter for all of my 3d models with no problems at all.  If you need any specific help, let me know.

    Added bonus (from the Terms of Service):

    Your Rights

    Google claims no ownership or control over any Content submitted, posted or displayed by you on or through the 3D Warehouse. You or a third party licensor, as appropriate, retain all patent, trademark and copyright to any Content you submit, post or display on or through the 3D Warehouse and you are responsible for protecting those rights, as appropriate. By submitting, posting or displaying Content through the 3D Warehouse, you grant Google and its end users a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual license to exercise the rights in the Content, as stated below:
    1. to reproduce the Content;
    2. to create and reproduce derivative works of the Content;
    3. to display publicly and distribute copies of the Content;
    4. to display publicly and distribute copies of derivative works of the content.

    Furthermore, for the avoidance of doubt, Google reserves, and you grant Google, the right to syndicate Content submitted, posted or displayed by you on or through the 3D Warehouse and use that Content in connection with any of the services offered by Google.  Notwithstanding the above, end users may not aggregate the Content obtained from the 3D Warehouse for redistribution, and may not use or distribute Content obtained from the 3D Warehouse in a mapping or geographic application or service without Google’s prior authorization.

    I'm no lawyer, but that sounds a lot like you can use the models for your own purposes with no copyright infringements or lawsuits.

    I also spent a lot of time on the Internet for any conversion software or tool from skp to directX (.x) format.
    If you prefer using SketchUp free, I start writing a DirectX exporter that can be found here : http://edecadoudal.googlepages.com/xExporter.rb

    Some google warehouse models are also available in collada format, and the pro ($60) version of Sketchup can export the kmz or skp files to collada.

    The bad news is i have not had much success importing collada files from sketchup into blender.

    there are other sites, with better quality models, which cost money. for exampls, this site: http://3dbud.com/ offers, high quelity animation modles, but there are too expensive for me, espatioally if i don't intend to get money for the game i build.
