    Platformer Starter Kit and VS2008

    Hello,

I'm previously had VS2008 Express installed along with XNA 3.0. Then the platformer starter kit was installed and I could use it.

Now, though, I no longer have VS2008 Express, but instead VS2008 Pro. When I installed XNA I noticed that the platformer starter kit was not installed. I reinstalled XNA but got the same results.

So, my question is: Is the platformer starter kit available for VS2008 Pro? If so, is there a way I can get it?

I've searched everywhere but cannot find a download for it.

I'm starting a platformer of my own and I'd like the starter kit for reference, so any help will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I don't have an answer, but something I'd try is to install VS2008 Express, open and build the Platform kit, then exit, and open the project in VS2008 Pro.

    Hey IshSaid,

    Thanks, that did it.

Re: Platformer Starter Kit and VS2008

There is a known issue with the Platformer starter kit not appearing in any editions of Visual Studio 2008 installed after you install XNA Game Studio 3.0.  Repairing XNA Game Studio 3.0 does not fix this issue.  If you run into this issue, you will need to use the following steps to work around it:
    1. Go to %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft XNA\XNA Game Studio\v3.0\Setup, right-click on platformer.msi and choose to uninstall it
    2. Go to Add/Remove Programs and choose to repair Microsoft XNA Game Studio 3.0.

Please let us know if that does not solve this issue for you.

    Thanks!

In case anyone is wondering, after installing 3.1 extentions, the Platformer Starter Kit appears under .NET Framework 3.5 project templates?

    Is this correct?!!?

    Thanks.

Re: Platformer Starter Kit and VS2008

The Platformer starter kit is marked so that it will only appear if you choose to target the .NET Framework 3.5 in the Visual Studio Standard Edition and higher new project dialog.  This is expected behavior, and it did not change in the XNA Game Studio 3.1 Zune Extensions.

    Thanks!
